In 2019, the NYAW Bursary Fund helped over 100 members. NYAW is committed to ensuring that cost is not a barrier to your participation in one of the National Ensembles.
National Youth Arts Wales is keen to ensure no-one is deterred from accepting their place with a NYAW ensemble for financial reasons. Through a combination of NYAW’s own bursary fund, the Neil and Mary Ellen Webber Bursary Fund and contributions from Friends’ organisations, financial support can be offered to NYAW Members who may have difficulty paying the full cost of the Residency.
Award-decisions are means-tested. NYAW will always take into account exceptional circumstances.
In line with many other similar organisations, there will be a nominal charge to help cover the costs of our summer residencies. Any deposit you’ve already paid for the 2021 residency will automatically be deducted from this fee.
If you have already been awarded a bursary for either 2020 or 2021, this will automatically be deducted. You do not need to apply again unless you also qualify for an Automatic Fee Waiver, or your circumstances have changed.
We understand that many families will be in a worse financial position this year due to the economic effects of Covid-19. Thanks to Arts Council of Wales, we are able to provide more bursaries this year for this very reason, and for the first time we are able to offer automatic fee waivers to certain members.
